Open Broadcaster Studio — Primarily a video streaming app for livestreams to Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch. This app can also record your desktop with audio to export and upload to your favorite video hosting service. Works on Mac/Windows/Linux
Loom — A cloud-based screencast software that allows you to record video and save 25 of them for free.

Screenflow — A Mac app that allows you to create highly-engaging screencasts with loads of options. One of our favorites.
Camtasia — A Mac/Windows app that allows you to make screencasts. Similar to Screenflow.
